ONME TOP 10: Here are some self-care activities for better mental health

The ONME Top 10 in California, hosted by Jordan Murphy, highlights the best of the best in Black businesses, locations, history, and other lists unique to Black California residents.

Within the past few weeks, we recognized that it’s a challenging time within our community, and here is our reminder to you to take step back, breathe, and try some of these activities. All of our information is sourced from Black community-centered sources.

This week’s top 10 includes a collection of the "Top 10 Self Care Activities."

Therapy improves communication skills, increases self-esteem and self-acceptance, and increases productivity.

Excercise improves mood, boosts energy, promotes better sleep, and can prevent and combat diseases.

Yoga balances emotions, provides better sleep, improves balance and flexibility, reduces stress.

Arts and Crafts enhance self-knowledge and self-expression, reduce stress, increase self-esteem, and relaxes the body and mind.

Meditation relaxes muscles, reduces stress, and calms the mind and body.

Family/Friend Time increases self-esteem, decreases stress, and helps meet emotional needs.

Reciting Positive Affirmations increases self-esteem, reduces self-doubt, and increases confidence.

Activism enhances a sense of control, decreases the feeling of helplessness and hopelessness, and builds community.

Journaling can help gain self-confidence, improve writing, reduce stress and anxiety, and strengthen memory.

Hiking & Camping reduces stress, decompresses, increases physical abilities, and improves mood.
