Congressman Costa announces his intention to take the 16th district over millennial contender Heng


FRESNO, CA - Congressman Jim Costa made his official announcement this week to run again for the California 16th Congressional District seat which would be his 13th year in Congress.

California's 16th congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of California, located in the central San Joaquin Valley, which includes areas of Fresno County, Madera County, and Merced County. It represents the cities of Los Banos, Madera, and Merced, and the western half of Fresno.

Known for his conservative views as a Democrat, Congressman Costa has a challenger this season: Elizabeth Heng, from Fresno, who was a valedictorian graduate of Sunnyside High School, attended Stanford University where she was elected student body president and earned her degrees in political science and economics. She also obtained her MBA from the Yale University school of Management.

Some of her political experience includes working with the U.S. House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee.
