In hopes that the atmospheric rains in California do not postpone events, people can celebrate the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King's birthday throughout California.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a federal holiday in the United States marking the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. It is observed on the third Monday of January each year. Born in 1929, King's actual birthday is January 15.
According to Americorps, a united service organization, MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities and celebrates the civil rights leader’s life and legacy.
Celebrate and commemorate MLK Day and learn more about the Civil Rights Movement by attending local events listed below.
ALERT: Please makes sure to call or email event locations before attending in-person events; California is currently experiencing flooding due to the atmospheric rains happening this week and the next.
