California Connects: Final statewide convening in Fresno unites local networks

State leaders and community organizations gather to strengthen collaboration and expand access to resources

By ONME Newswire

FRESNO, Calif.—In a time when national divisions dominate headlines, California is taking bold steps to unite its communities. On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, the Office of Community Partnerships and Strategic Communications (OCPSC) hosted the concluding event of the California Connects: Regional Convenings series in Fresno held at Pardini’s Catering & Banquets in Fresno, CA. This pioneering, state-led initiative has traveled across California, aiming to fortify local networks and support community-driven solutions, setting the stage for stronger networks and more equitable access to resources throughout the state.

A Statewide Effort Culminates in the Central Valley

The Fresno convening session gathered representatives from more than 100 community-based organizations, state agencies, local leaders, and philanthropic partners from the Central Valley. Attendees participated in hands-on workshops, skill-building exercises, and connected directly with resources and funding opportunities.

Bridging Divides Through Partnership

As political polarization continues to challenge the nation, California is emphasizing the importance of partnership and inclusivity. The Fresno event underscores the state’s commitment to addressing community needs by fostering meaningful relationships and strengthening regional networks. This collaborative approach is central to OCPSC’s mission to realize more inclusive and effective outcomes in statewide outreach initiatives, according to their website.

Key Speakers Who Attended

The convening featured key voices from state and local leadership, including:

  • Aubrie Fong, Acting Executive Director, Office of Community Partnerships and Strategic Communications (OCPSC)

  • Josh Fryday, GO-Serve Director and California Chief Service Officer

  • Assemblymember Joaquin Arambula, District 31

  • Mayor Jerry Dyer, City of Fresno

  • Representatives from local community-based organizations, state agencies, and philanthropic partners

Why This Matters

The goal of the Fresno convening—and the California Connects series as a whole—is to build stronger local networks, expand equitable access to state resources and funding, and foster relationships that last well beyond the event itself. By empowering local leaders and organizations, the state hopes to bridge gaps in equity and ensure all Californians have access to the information and support they need.
