Christian Love Baptist Church Pastor Anderson leaves a legacy


MODESTO, CA - Christian Love Baptist Church prominent Pastor James Anderson, 83, died of a heart attack this past week.

Pastor Anderson was known for his open doors to all of the community, as the church's residence was located in the low-income area of Modesto, CA. He and the church served members of the community with local programs and workshops to help those in need and formerly incarcerated individuals who wanted a new start.

Pastor Anderson was especially known throughout the community during the celebration of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Many community leaders considered him a friend, mentor, and community peace activist; he is survived by three of his five children and his wife, Karen Anderson.

Viewing to be held from 6 to 8 p.m.July 25, at Christian Love Baptist, 202 H St. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 26, at United Pentecostal Church of Modesto, 825 Seventh St.
